Dear future volunteer,
Are you looking for a life changing experience at the one and only hostel in Tilburg? At Hostel Roots you will learn the ins and outs about running a hostel. Be in charge of housekeeping, breakfast and bar shifts.
👉🏽WHAT'S THE DEAL?
You will volunteer 25h a week with 5 days a week a shift of 5 hours. This means you will be off 2 days a week, so you have plenty of time to explore Tilburg, The Netherlands and surrounding countries 🙂 Often one of your new friends (another volunteer ;-)) likes to explore together.
👉🏽WHAT'S INCLUDED?
A bed in a 6 bed dorm with only volunteers, a kitchen, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, and a shower/toilet for volunteers only (no guests allowed). Hostel Roots will provide enough groceries so you can make nice and healthy meals.
👉🏽WHAT'S NEEDED?
Work hard, play hard attitude. A volunteer who is enthusiastic, eager to learn (or teach us some tips and tricks 😉 and open for feedback. If you know some other languages, or have any hospitality experience this would be a big plus but not necessary.
👉🏽 WHAT ELSE?
We ask for a minimum period of 8 weeks (or even longer if we both agree after the minimum period). Also there is a 7th volunteer who is responsible for the night shifts but is also part of the team.

what can I say? it was my first workaway experience and I'm not gonna forget anything about it. People are amazing, workawayers were the best and the work is fine. You're gonna have time to explore Tilburg (Piushaven, magic place) but also other cities nearby. I stayed there more than two months and I was supposed to stay only six weeks... be prepared! you're gonna like it!

The Hostel was my first experience via workaway and in the end it was an unforgettable time! You'll work in 3 different shifts but you always have a checklist and super lovely stuff at the reception in case you have questions, problems or you're in the mood for a little chat 😉 In your days off you can easily explore the city or go for a daytrip to Breda or Eindhoven. So if you want to meet new people, improve your language skills and don't have a problem to share space, good moments and laughs - this is the right adress for you. Wish you guys all the best 🙂

Oh guysss, if you have the opportunity, just go there without hesitating a second. Lost around the Netherlands, I would never ever have thought to live such amazing nine weeks. I'm writing these few words crying: I'm desperately missing the crazy crew.

Working at Hostel Roots have been one of the best thing that ever happened in my life. I would go back there anytime of my life. Koen and Marion have never been my bosses, there always have been a friendly relation between us and a family spirit got in the staff. I met some of my best friends over there, I created a new family, and I would come back tomorrow morning.

I have no regrets about my decision to stay and work at this hostel.
I really worried about many things in Japan. My English, my first experience to travel alone, first time to go Europe... maybe you may have same feeling as me. However, no need to worry about that. All people in this hostel will understand you, and I got many new friends from many countries. Also I could go to travel to other cities in Netherlands, and even Belgium too!! Also Tilburg is calm and safe but enough fun city:) Anyway, I recommend this hostel strongly!! And last but not least, I'd like to thank everyone in this amazing hostel!!!
